Barriers to the adoption of e-commerce in Colombian companies: an exploratory factor analysis

El objetivo del presente artículo es identificar las principales barreras que dificultan la adopción del comercio electrónico en empresas colombianas. Utilizando una muestra de 375 empresas a nivel nacional, se recopilaron datos mediante un cuestionario en línea, el cual evaluó trece variables sobre las barreras para la utilización del comercio electrónico. Se les aplicó un análisis factorial exploratorio al conjunto de datos para identificar los factores en que se agrupan las variables. Los resultados muestran que las trece variables se concentran en tres factores, los cuales se interpretan como barreras: (1) internas, (2) externas y (3) de negación al comercio electrónico. Esta última emerge como una categoría no explorada previamente en la literatura ofreciendo una nueva perspectiva sobre las barreras que enfrentan las empresas al adoptar el comercio electrónico. Estos hallazgos contribuyen a ampliar la comprensión del tema en economías emergentes como la de Colombia.
