An approach to developing service-oriented architectures (SOA) in the domain of geographic information systems

Resumen

La interoperabilidad entre sistemas de información geográfica (SIG), es una necesidad que se viene presentando por dos motivos: el creciente uso de los SIG en las empresas para realizar un análisis espacial de la información, y la necesidad de complementar esta información gestionada por diferentes SIG, dadas las diversas fuentes de adquisición de la información. Los esfuerzos realizados para suplir esta necesidad se enfocan principalmente en dos direcciones: creación de estándares y desarrollo de arquitecturas orientadas a servicios (SOA). Este artículo presenta las falencias existentes en los mecanismos propuestos y plantea fortalecer la solución a través del desa- rrollo de arquitecturas SOA, predefiniendo dos aspectos básicos del desarrollo según el dominio específico de los SIG.
